  • 7th Annual Camp Logan Days Living History reenactment. Did you know that at Camp Logan there was an officer who was an author? How about that there was an officer who came to Grant County who was later at the Battle of the Little Big Horn? Camp Logan was a military post close to present day Prairie City and was established in 1865 by the First Oregon Volunteers and then later occupied by the regular army. It remained until 1869. Camp Logan was part of the Department of the Columbia that consisted of the State of Oregon, Washington Territory and Idaho Territory and the Territory of Alaska was added in 1870. Other posts in the Department included Camp Watson and Fort Klamath to name a few. The Headquarters was moved to Portland from Fort Vancouver in 1867. You will have the opportunity to step back in time and relive the year 1867 and see what life was like at the military camp and the town of Dixie. For more information contact, Dianne Lesniak at Prairie City School at (541) 820-3314. Camp Logan Days e-mail: camplogandays@yahoo.com

  • Prairie City (Oregon) Bicycle Invitational
  • 2009 Dates To Be Announced Later
  • Join us for a day or a week of great Bicycle Riding in the Prairie City area, famous among veteran cyclists. Choose from a variety of mapped and characterized rides ranging in type, class, and distance. You'll experience spectacular scenery, traffic free roadways, un-crowded backcountry trails, abundant wildlife, and scenic wilderness. You will also be welcomed by true Western hospitality and friendliness.
  • NOTE: The scheduled ride dates shown for certain of the routes is not intended to imply restriction in any way on riders' choices about which route to take on any given date. The purpose of the scheduling (assigning of a suggested date) is to facilitate coordination of volunteer groups that might aim to organize support services - such as sag wagon and rest/refreshment stops - for fund-raising opportunity. Having this schedule also enhances the prospect for individual riders to meet others of similar pace and fitness level for company along the way if they so choose.

"Free Wheel Day" simply signifies a route has not been assigned a suggested date of ride.

    Inquiries welcome: storie@cavepainter.us or 503-704-4631.

  • ROUTE RIDE SCHEDULE AND COORDINATION

  • Assembly/Start point West Front Street (Highway 26), between cross streets of SW Johnson Avenue and SW Bridge Street (grassed area under large oak tree on south side of Front Street, where are a couple of picnic tables).

Riders are urged to assemble here to (a) learn details of support services that might be provided during the ride, (b) to meet any other riders who will be sharing the route, and (c) to complete a "Participant Information Form" which documents vital personal safety information.

Suggested start time 07:00 AM. Riders are at liberty to exercise personal discretion about departure time, of course, but a start time no later than this is urged for taking advantage of cooler morning temperatures - especially on days when temperatures are forecast to reach above normal.
