The John Day Basin Office and You
The John Day Basin Office of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon is dedicated to Restoration of the John Day Basin and Improvement of Economic Growth and Stability in the area. The Forrest and Oxbow Conservation Areas, Watershed Restoration program and Monitoring program operate out of the John Day Basin Office. The office offers a wide variety of public opportunities and landowner assistance programs.
Irrigation Improvements
- Conversions - to improve efficiency, reduce labor and improve
water usage.
- Diversion Replacements - to remove fish passage barriers,
improve water diversion levels and reduce labor costs.
Rangeland Improvements
- Juniper Control - to reduce competition with native grasses and improve range conditions for livestock and wildlife.

- Water Developments - to reduce impacts on streams and rivers and to better utilize upland forage sources.
Streambank Improvements
- Riparian Fencing - to maintain and improve stream health and
reduce losses during calving.

- Riparian Plantings - to increase wildlife habitat, decrease water temperatures and improve overall stream health for cleaner
water.
